Yay! Now it’s finally time for my very first contest I’m a bit nervous, but hopefully everything will run smoothly and without any major problems ^^’ Let’s get it started.

The thrilling enigma which surrounds Silent Hill will never cease to fill me with wonder. I have never before been so captivated by a video game in my whole life, and this fascination have now inspired me to hold this contest.
The games play tricks with your mind and leaves you afraid of dark places for days. The riddles and dark mysteries hidden deep within the disturbing and rusting “Otherworld” arise so many questions and theories which adds to the eerie atmosphere. And what makes the whole thing even more epic is the beautiful/disturbing music composed by the legendary Akira Yamaoka. Certainly a pure pearl among psychological horror games!
As you play as the main character, you face many types of twisted and horrid monsters in the claustrophobic darkness. These monsters aren’t any random zombies or evil critters. What you find there are the very manifestations of your guilt, suppressed urges, fears and suffering. In other words – you are facing your own demons.

Your task is to design your personal monster. It must have a strong connection to you and your life, so take your time and make it resemble your most negative experience as much as possible.
Example: it can be about a bothersome illness or handicap, something you wish you hadn't done or maybe problems in your family. Didn't you visit your grandma often enough while she was still alive?

It's all up to you what your monster will represent, as long as it has to do with you and your life.

Knowledge is power
It is a great advantage if you are somewhat familiar with the Otherworld of Silent Hill and its complex symbolism. If not, I highly recommend you to either play the games or watch someone else play in a walkthrough on YouTube.
_{Silent Hill: Homecoming is an exception. This sixth game have taken a serious side-step from the previous classics, though the graphics are impressive. Go for the 2nd game if you have lack of time.}

R U L E S
You can enter with maximum 2 pictures.
The picture must be coloured or shaded in greyscale – I won’t accept lineart.
The monster must be illustrated in full figure, so I can more clearly see it.
You may add a person (you) in the picture, but the monster must be in focus.
You can use any kind of traditional/digital or mixed media. 3D and animation is also accepted.
If you use resurces or stock images, please put the credits in the deviation comment.
Don’t enter with pictures/concepts that wasn’t made for this contest. You have to make your entry completely from the beginning. Pictures must be posted after 18th October.

I won't accept photomanipulations, abstract art and literature.
Don’t use someone else’s pictures or concepts!

You can enter anytime (till the deadline) by sending me a link to your picture, either with a note or on this contest page.:

Upload your entry to your account on deviantART.
Write in the description about your monster and explain how it is related to you.
_{Note: The description is just as important as the picture itself. Take your time on this too. If you feel that openly charing your explanation is too hard and sensitive for you, then you can note it to me instead. My lips are sealed, I promise.}
Add a link to this contest in your description so others can find it.

JUDGEMENT
I will first and foremost judge your entry based on creativity, originality and how well it represents your personal situation. My second priority is how well you did with your preferred medium.
I will NOT give any competitor a greater advantage because of sympathy. No matter the severity of your situation, I will judge everyone equally.
